The Spinning of Starlight

The Spinning of Starlight

The lady of the night travels the darkened heavens,
Walking across the rolling and deepening thunderclouds–
This is her time to harvest.
As she goes, she plucks the stars from their sleeping places,
And she spins them upon her spindle.
Up and down the spindle goes,
Spinning and spinning,
Until all that is left is spun starlight.
But the lady of the night is wise;
She knows that not all the stars will allow themselves to be spun into gentle starlight.
Full of fury and strength, some stars leap from her spindle tip in flashes of lightning,
Arching,
Reaching.
Through the thunderclouds and down to the ground,
Escaping her spindle,
And in a flash, they are gone.
