When People Fall Short

I helped someone who was hurting today,
And the people who loved them the most–
They didn’t even know;
Never realized how bad things had become and all that they could have lost.
What does that mean?
It is not necessarily mean that they do not love them, but perhaps that they couldn’t see?
Love can mean so many things;
Love can be so many things,
But what do you call love when it fails you?

Reality.

No matter how much someone loves you, they will fail you.
Unfortunately, we can be blind without meaning to.
It is not our intention to hurt you,
To fail,
To fall short,
But we are mortal,
And we have limitations that prevent us from being everything you need us to be every time.
That is why it is important to communicate;
Show us our shortcomings so that we can collaborate to fix them.
Love is a work in progress;
Life is a work in progress,
But we will work together so that we don’t have to face it alone,
And we will try, to the best of our ability, to be there for one another when life gets hard.
